Re: Cultures & customs
new zealand is a veryyoung country by world standards we market ourselves as clean green and the adventure capital of the world (the bungee was invented here) basicly a western country with a polynesian slant the outdoors is important to the lifestyle here surrounded by water with volcanoes rain forests and wild rivers..nuclear free and proud of it we wont get pushed around by the big guy.. the size of japan with less than half the population of tokyo theres plenty of elbow room...we pride ourselves on our world achievements ....a new zealander was the first to split the atom , first man to stand on top of everest the first country in the world to give women the vote icould go on but maybe later

Vulcanos and rain forests are beautiful gifts from Mater Nature...lovely!
Hmm, there's so many thing I could tell about Serbia but I will relieve things one by one...
As our custom when meeting with friends, we shake hands and kiss 3 times on cheeks for good luck.

Re: Cultures & customs
we have been fortunate enough not to experience war for a few generations now so our returned soldiers are getting older and fewer...as this is happening the younger generations are commemorating their sacrifices more and more. april 25 is the big day and alot of new zealanders travel to turkey (anzac cove ,gallipoli) and paschendale where so many of our men lost their lives so far from home
helps us remember the stupid things we fight over.........live and let live

Re: Cultures & customs
...Serbians celebrate their family feasts, which are called in Searbian "Slava" (Thanksgiving or Glory-giving) and is kept on the feast day of the patron Saint of the entire family....It is a sort of spiritual family reunion. For this occasion we bake the Slavsky Kolach (cake) and Kolyivo (kutiya) that is made of boiled wheat mixed with honey and spices. The kolach also bears representations of the dove of peace and of the first-fruits of the harvest, and the wheat symbolizes the Resurrection of Christ. And we serve red wine represents blood of a Christ...The highlight of the feast is the service of the Thanksgiving Prayer (molieben)...
